I'm giving a talk trying to sell mahotas & python for bioimage analysis:

For the occasion, I released new versions of mahotas and mahotas-imread.

These are minor updates, but they contain some nice improvements & bugfixes.

Mahotas
-------

Mahotas is a computer vision library. Algorithms operate on numpy
arrays, but are implemented in C++ for speed (efficiency is a major
concern of mahotas).

It includes algorithms such as watershed, morphological operations,
feature computation (Haralick features, Zernike moments, and SURF), and
other tidbits.

Mahotas-Imread
--------------

Imread is a simple library to read/write image files. It just gets Bytes
in and out of numpy arrays and leaves image processing to more complex
packages such as skimage or mahotas.

It is MIT Licensed.

Bug reports are welcome! Patches doubly so.
